Adult Swim's Leading Fresh Series of 2025 Gets a Major Renewal for Two More Seasons.

In October of last year, Adult Swim welcomed back its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, not long after, the network introduced a fresh animated series with a strikingly different tone. Haha, You Clowns proved to be sweet and soothing, in the spirit of a cartoon version of a serene talk show. At a time often marked by dark humor, this show's wholesomeness found an audience and turned it into a surprise hit.

A Two-Season Greenlight

On December 18th, the network confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been renewed for two additional seasons. This offers creator Joe Cappa a massive runway to expand upon the world of the Campbell family. The series follows three well-mannered teenage brothers whose primary trait is their deep love for their single father, with Cappa providing the voices for all four main characters.

"I’m so grateful to the viewers of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and spread the word," said Cappa. "It's thrilling that I get to spend more time in the Campbell household for seasons to come."

Executive Acclaim

Accompanying the news laudits from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "profoundly sincere and oddly captivating." He thanked the fans who discovered the show and supported its distinctly quirky appeal.

"All of you showed up for this new show, rooted for it on social media, and helped it grow week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," said Ouweleen. "As the show says: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Wholesome Alternative

Upon its debut, Haha, You Clowns was described as "a wholesome alternative" to more cynical adult animated fare. There’s something unexpectedly cozy about following this endearing family go about their daily lives.

Previously, creator Joe Cappa stated his desire to help comedy break out of its prevailing sarcastic tone. He linked this trend to the rise of certain blockbuster franchises.

“It feels like there's a default mode of irony that we are trapped in,” noted Cappa. “The attitude is that we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for 10 years, and we must laugh at something different now. The genre needs to change.”

The Path Forward

Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns guaranteed to return, Cappa may well help usher in that change he described. If nothing else, the renewal promises audiences more opportunities to experience the heartfelt moments of the unique Campbell clan.

The season 1 finale of Haha, You Clowns airs on December 21st. All episodes is currently streaming on HBO Max.
