Fast bowler Atkinson Compounds England's Fitness Problems.

'Serious blow' for the English camp after Atkinson is forced off due to a hamstring issue.

Gus Atkinson added to the fitness woes of the England squad upon exiting the field on the second morning in the Melbourne Test in the Ashes series.

Atkinson pulled up with his left hamstring post-delivery that he bowled during the morning session.

The England team indicated the 27-year-old felt some "soreness" and required time on the sidelines to undergo evaluation "during the day".

The concluding match in this Ashes battle beginning on 4 January gets underway on Sunday, 4 January.

England have already lost fast bowlers one seamer to a knee injury and Jofra Archer because of a side injury during this series.

Matthew Fisher was brought into the squad as injury reinforcement.

His form was underwhelming early in the series, managing only three wickets.

He was left out for the Adelaide match, before being recalled for the Melbourne Test in the playing XI.

The county bowler showed better form in Melbourne, taking two wickets with the ball, then making 28 as a batsman being one of only three teammates who passed ten runs.

Following a brief spell at the end of day one, he returned for the second day's play and dismissed the nightwatchman taken by the wicketkeeper.

However, towards the conclusion of that over, he bowled a variation to the batsman and promptly felt his left hamstring.

Atkinson was recalled for the fourth Ashes Test following his omission the previous Test.
