Iran Claims Attack on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Regional Counterattacks.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed operations across the region in response for a "massive" and ongoing offensive targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone in the area of the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any impact is uncertain and the US has remained silent.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - said they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their air space.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on Iran launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck sites linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with high efficiency and destroyed a number of missiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted debris fell on a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some property damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
