Outrage as Beloved South African DJ Shot Dead in the Heart of Johannesburg.
A renowned South African media personality and entertainer has been shot dead in the country's largest city Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a nation battling persistent crime.
Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the central business district on a Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities reported the 40-year-old media personality was approached by three individuals, one of whom began shooting at him before fleeing on foot.
The purpose of the shooting has not been established and no arrests have taken place, as per the official statement.
How It Happened
Law enforcement revealed that Stock was targeted as he was leaving a building near the Carlton Centre.
He had devoted time at the site overseeing the setup of security systems, which had been controversially occupied by unidentified individuals, according to reports.
"Authorities believe the victim was confronted by three unidentified men after parking his vehicle, and they opened fire at him before running from the location on foot," an official report confirmed.
Security camera video reportedly depicted a suspect with dreadlocks and clad in what resembled a security uniform shooting on Stock before running away.
The DJ tried to run away after he was shot but succumbed to his injuries on the opposite side of the road.
It was further revealed that Stock had an unused firearm and no items were stolen during the assault.
Important clues, like bullet casings, were recovered from the location.

Officials are asking members of the public who may have seen the suspects to assist with the investigation.
"Our information indicates they covered significant ground after the attack, and investigators have been attempting to locate them to find their destination," remarked an authority figure.

His sister, a close relative, said the relatives are devastated to process his death.
"Words fail me. I cannot express the pain," she stated.
"We know he was a champion for numerous individuals. He addressed issues courageously about subjects not many people were prepared to speak about. This is a devastating blow."
She appealed to the community to not sharing explicit content from the incident, noting this was an incredibly difficult time, above all for Stock's young family.

Stock was the host of Ngicel' iVisa, a series that premiered on a South African digital satellite entertainment channel.
Apart from his work in broadcasting, Stock was active in various entrepreneurial pursuits, including protective services, offering elite guarding services and securing major functions across South Africa.
He was also said to be engaged in real estate operations and assisted with building evictions.

A senior figure commented he was furious and grief-stricken by Stock's untimely death.
