Recent Particulars Surface Regarding the Finding of the Reiner Couple's Bodies
Recent details have emerged regarding the tragic passing of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were found at their Los Angeles home property on Sunday.
A Initial Report
According to a report quoting a family associate, a massage therapist scheduled for an appointment initially became concerned after failing to get inside the home. The practitioner then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides close by.
Upon entering the home, Romy found her father's body. Reports state she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Her roommate who had accompanied her then dialed 911. Following this, emergency responders found Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Developments
Law enforcement have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of premeditated murder, including the charge related to a weapon, reportedly a knife. He is presently detained without bail.
Clarifications
The person close to the family questioned several earlier details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner informed emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a detached unit on the estate, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that time.
The source also disputed circulated suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "apprehensive" about Nick's actions in recent weeks. Rather the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."
This correction applies to accounts of reportedly "unpredictable" conduct by Nick at a gathering thrown by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the bodies were found. Although the source noted they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they asserted that suggestions of a "heated argument" between the two were not correct.
Investigation Timeline
As stated by law enforcement sources, the medical examiner had still not confirmed at that point whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Some accounts suggested the condition of their bodies pointed to they had been deceased for some hours.
Nick Reiner was apprehended at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, roughly 15 miles from the residence. He was due to appear in court on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, said his client had not been medically cleared and would not appear until no sooner than Wednesday.
