The English Team to Launch UEFA Euro 2028 Journey at City’s Home Ground
The English squad will embark on their UEFA Euro 2028 journey at the the home of Manchester City, assuming they secure the relatively straightforward passage for a championship hosted across most of the United Kingdom and the Irish Republic.
City’s stadium has not staged an Three Lions match since the spring of 2016, when the Turkish team were beaten 2-1 in a exhibition match, but is expected to stage the Three Lions for their first match on June 10, 2028.
England are scheduled to play their final two group matches at the national stadium, but, if they top their group, their last-16 tie would be held at St James’ Park. Securing the runner-up spot would mean commencing the elimination stage at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Championship Opening and Demonstration
The tournament was launched at an event in Piccadilly Circus on the previous evening. Key representatives from Uefa and the organizing bodies were barracked as they entered the site by around fifty protesters, who called for Israel to be kicked out from global football because of the situation in Gaza.
Signs were displayed with slogans saying “Show Israel the red card” and “You are complicit”, while activists chanted: “Kick Israel out.”
Event Timeline
The first match of the European Championship will be played at the Cardiff’s stadium in the Welsh capital, on Friday 9 June, a game that will involve the Welsh team if they make it.
Wembley Stadium will host the penultimate rounds and the title decider, which will be played on a Sunday in July 2028 with a commencement at 5:00 PM.
